Walk in to make an appointment.
Walked in to make an appointment. Was told to go to A&E. And I don't drive. I was on my way home from hospital at the time. Feeling run down. Four reception staff talking. I would sack all of them. Went to chemist for chorosodyl. Chemist said go see GP. Went home drove to Escrick to register with new practice immediately. I've been with Priory for 40 years.
I needed an appointment urgently
I was discharged from hospital and told to go to my doctors regarding starting new warfarin medication. The healthcare person I saw was amazing and gave me loads of information which the hospital did not give me. She went through the diet and testing and booked me in for my next appointment. She was professional, genuinely caring and helped my anxiety with how she explained everything.
Everyone was amazing
Suzy the health care assistant helped me to understand my diabetes more and went above and beyond expectations
Feel like I don't have a gp service any more
Waited months to get a blood test then another 7 weeks for a follow-up phone call, to be told I am being put on a waiting list to speak to another person. No idea how long this wait will be. I just want a short face-to-face consultant with s doctor within say a month of asking for one but this doesn't seem possible. I am at my wits end and apalled by the lack of service from priory medical
Poor communication and no follow ups
Visited GP in March to examine lump/swelling. Referred to hospital for a scan. Told it would be 6 weeks wait. After almost 6 months of waiting and chasing I was called by GP to say that it had been missed and could I go back in for another appointment! An error like this could have serious consequences and it's not the first time I've experienced it with PM Group. Also absolutely absurd that you can't phone and speak to someone, you have to fill in a form and just wait with no information about when you will be called except 'within 21 days'!!!!
Lack of support and communication
I filled in the online form for repeat prescription but also asked for a review regarding HRT as I am not 100% happy with it right now. Went to collect my prescription from the pharmacy to be told that Oestrogen is not available. I politely asked what I am supposed to do to be told to contact my GP surgery. I tried for about 20min without being able to get through to anybody and therefore went to directly speak to the receptionist at Fulford Surgery. She was polite but all she could offer was to print off the prescription again for me to drive round other pharmacies to see whether they have the prescribed oestrogen available. I could not pick up the prescription there and then but should come back tomorrow. When I mentioned that I would like a review anyway and that this had been on the original form I was told I just need to wait for that, in the meantime I would have to take (if I get it) what I have been taking for the last 12 months. I do find the lack of communication between GP surgery and pharmacy staggering. I am furious about the lack of support from either of these, I am fuming that I should now have to make phone calls and/or drive to other pharmacies to find some HRT. All of this in the next two days as I am running out of my prescription, something I did mention when I filled out the online form about 10 days ago. Absolute awful situation, very stressful, very worrying.
excellent wound care
I had a cyst removed and issues after the surgery. Nurse care was outstanding in consistency and empathy and medical care.
inadequate timely care
tried to call regarding my elderly mum who started having dizzy spells and falling, couldn't get through 30 + callers waiting, so we did the online consult and it stated we would be called back. we waited and then 4 days later I called again and was told that a doctor would call that day, there was no call. I called the next week and was told it would be two weeks, luckily as a healthcare professional I had checked her blood pressure and the medication was the issue so it was temporarily stopped and no more dizzy spells. If we hadn't have done that she could have fallen and sustained a life changing injury
Great service for tech-savvy people
I fell ill over the weekend with an infection I get from time to time. Filled in the online triage form with all the details on Sunday. Got a phone call not long after 9 on Monday morning. Asked a few questions to confirm I had what I thought I had. E-prescription sorted to collect from my preferred pharmacy. So whole thing works brilliantly for people confident doing things online if you have a straightforward problem.
Theory great, reality less so
I agreed to a telephone appointment as waiting times for a face to face appointment were over 3 weeks. I'd never had a telephone appointment before so wasn't quite sure how it would work. The time came, and nothing happened. After half an hour I called the practice and when I explained was told I was the second person who'd rung and not to worry the doctor was just a bit behind but would call soon. 1 hour 5 minutes after my appointment time the doctor called. Luckily for me I was having a desk catch up day but on some days I would not have been available so far from the original appointment time - I understand you can end up waiting a while for a face to face appointment, but this was a considerable delay. The appointment itself was great, the doctor was very understanding, talked through options, and offered a prescription that wholly met my needs, which was brilliant. She confirmed that an e-prescription would be sent to my nearest pharmacy within the hour. When I went to collect my prescription 2 days later the pharmacy said they hadn't got anything for me. They asked me to wait whilst they checked if anything had come through overnight. It hadn't. So I walked to the surgery. There was a bit of a queue, but after about 10 minutes wait I spoke to one of the lovely women on reception. She confirmed it had been sent. She called the pharmacy. They confirmed they hadn't got it. She then said it had gone through the spine but the barcode was invalid. She said she's need to get a doctor to sign off the error and then she could print it. She said I could wait until a doctor was free but they had someone in with them and someone waiting, or I could come back. As it was a Friday morning and I was already late for work I said I didn't know when I could collect it so she said she could fax it. She promised to sort it out. I am hoping it has arrived by the time I pop in to the pharmacy on Saturday. The whole idea of telephone consultations and electronic prescriptions sounds great in theory, but is clearly still a work in progress... I do have to say though that everyone I dealt with was lovely.
Prompt, professional and effective service
I called this morning at 8am feeling unwell. A doctor phoned me back at 8.30, and listened to me attentively. She arranged an immediate prescription to be collected from my nearest surgery, and a back up test to check for any underlying problems. I felt supported, cared for, listened to and understood.
Have attended this surgery for 13 years.
I feel I have always received excellent care from the medical team and the reception staff are polite and efficient.
