The Health Bill, which proposes the abolition of Healthwatch England and the local Healthwatch network including Healthwatch York, continues on it's journey through parliament with the report stage concluding on 16 July when the summer recess began.
The report stage gave us the opportunity to submit written evidence to the Health Bill Committee, urging them to retain independent public voice in health and social care. You can read our evidence here.
The committee now needs to produce a report before a third reading in Parliament.
The remaining Commons stages of the Bill are scheduled for 7 and 8 September. The Bill will then move to the House of Lords. We expect this to be where we have the strongest chance of overturning the abolition decision.
